“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
I saw the movie “Salinger” yesterday. I went even though I had read bad reviews about the movie. I loved it! Salinger is alive a well in American Literature!
Hmmm….interesting coming from Salinger. Not so sure I felt that way about him after Catcher in the Rye, but I did love the book when I was an angsty teen. And Franny and Zooey was great for when I was a bit older and didn’t understand my sister. 😉
When I read a really great novel, I don’t necessarily want to meet the author so much as continue to live in the worlds they’ve created in my head.
There are def authors I’ve felt this for, they’d have to be my friend for me to ask the questions I’d want to!
